"Mirage"
Date: 2023
Dimensions: Variable Dimensions
Medium: boxes, mirror-like material
About the project:
In this artistic exploration, "Mirage," I draw inspiration from Maraya located in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, while recreating it on a different canvas—nature. Ten identical cubes, created with mirror-like materials, are placed in a row, each becoming a part of a Gestalt—a concept where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
The straight alignment of the cubes on the grass allows viewers to experience the entire installation from various angles. As viewers navigate the reflective corridor, they become immersed in the distorted reflection of their own bodies, the play of shadows on different surfaces, and the visual illusion.
The reflective surfaces of these cubes reflect the surrounding environment and each other, creating the infinite mirror effect often used by famous artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Josiah McElheny, Ivan Navarro, Taylor Davis, Anthony James, and Guillaume Lachapelle.
